What is a Career Consultant and what do they do?

A Career Consultant is a professional staff member at the Career Center who assists you in your career decision-making processes. This individual has the experience and the resources necessary to help you make informed career decisions. Career Consultants also:

  • provide individual counseling on choosing and using a major
  • administer and interpret career-related interest inventories and personality assessments
  • inform students about internship and full-time job opportunities
  • discuss graduate school opportunities and application procedures
  • offer current information about availability of jobs, salary statistics & industry trends
  • critique resumes and job search letters
  • educate students about networking
  • conduct mock interviews
  • connect with employers who recruit students in their assigned academic area
  • present career-related seminars to academic classes and student organizations
