In this presentation, guest speaker, Michael Myers, will share with webinar attendees more information about the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), which provides tools, training and resources to help small businesses grow and succeed. Designated as one of Georgia’s top providers of small business assistance, the SBDC has 17 offices ranging from Rome to Valdosta to serve the needs of Georgia’s business community and over 900 SBDC offices nationwide with over 2700 business consultants. Since 1977, their network of partners has helped construct a statewide ecosystem to foster the spirit, support, and success of hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs and innovators.

In this webinar, you'll learn:

  • The mechanics of starting a business, including conducting market research, business funding and structure, and more.
  • Information on different small business statistics in Georgia and across the US
  • How SBDC has helped other entrepreneurs start their businesses strong

Guest Speaker: Michael Myers joined the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Athens Area Office on October 1, 2015. Before joining the SBDC, Michael was a C-Level executive in the retail industry for 23 years and has owned his own Contract Consulting firm. Michael has extensive knowledge in the area of franchising, being both a Franchisor and Franchisee. A native of Kansas City, Mo, Michael and his wife Debbie own and operate a small franchised business in the Athens Area.
