Territory Sales Manager at Altria Sales and Distribution
As a Marketing major in The Terry College of Business, I knew it was important to stand out amongst the competition. I did everything that I could to differentiate myself through professional associations and even earning a Certificate in Professional Selling but I was still missing one important aspect. I had yet to learn how to effectively convey all of this information to employers.
By spending time with several Career Center advisors, I significantly improved my odds of working for a top company. The Career Center was key to my success for two reasons. First, the resume critiques that I attended three semesters in a row helped me to continue to position my experiences in the most appealing fashion. Second, discussing my experiences and how to convey them in an interview made me much more comfortable when speaking with actual companies. Through these efforts, I was offered several positions. One such offer was with a Fortune 150 company, Altria Sales and Distribution, where I will started full-time in June, 2011. This company is consistently ranked as one of the best places to launch a career and I know I am off to a great start. I am confident that the assistance I received from the Career Center was a vital aspect in acquiring this position.
