Jessica Laiti
Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication: May 2006
Senior Specialist at Cox Enterprises
The combination of my campus involvement, sorority, classes and internships helped me land my current job. Being in the Greek community and active in Pi Beta Phi gave me leadership experience, service activities and taught me the value of relationships. Active involvement with the Grady College, the Public Relations Student Society of America and IABC at UGA taught me what to expect in a job and how to prepare myself. Moreover, they gave me direct access to professionals who were just a few years older than me.
Through DAWGlink, I found three different internships that helped me learn new skills and build confidence. Additionally, I took a class with the Career Center (ECHD 3050) my senior year that helped me finalize my resume, write a cover letter and structure my job search. I met my current boss at a career fair/conference advertised through PRSSA. My professional relationship with her eventually turned into another internship and a full-time job that I love. UGA gave me a well-rounded foundation to build upon.
