Assistant Channel Manager at Newell Rubbermaid
I utilized and capitalized on resources UGA had to offer to make the most of college and to discover my career aspirations. I was actively involved in several organizations that lead to leadership roles which helped set me apart from other candidates. I started to utilize career services by attending seminars, programs and mock interviews to learn about the new opportunities and improve my skills. In the business field internships are very important because most companies want a candidate that has hands on experience. My junior year I participated in the Intern for a Day program with State Farm which lead to a full-time summer internship.
It was January 2010, my last career fair as an undergrad, when I learned about the many opportunities Newell Rubbermaid had to offer. After talking with the representative about Sales Management Development Program I was very interested and felt like this would be a very good fit. I worked with the career center to help me prepare for the 2 rounds of campus interviews followed by final rounds in Atlanta that lead to a fulltime offer. I started In the Sales Management Development Program at Newell-Rubbermaid; I managed a $5.3 million territory which required selling 5 brands and managing 40 accounts in New Jersey. I was promoted to an Assistant Channel Manager for Newell Rubbermaid in our Huntersville office in North Carolina. I manage several different channels were I am responsible for profit and loss statements, channel programs, and category management with two of our brands.
Starting my career with Newell Rubbermaid has been a great experience. I have increased my overall dexterity and I have access to endless opportunities to grow and develop throughout my career path. The Career Center is a great resource and I encourage all to take advantage of getting to know your career consultant and attending career service’s events throughout the year.
