Intern at Accenture
While I still have a lot of work to do when it comes to achieving my career goals, The University of Georgia Career Center has set me in the right direction. I originally visited the Career Center to get some advice on putting my resume together before I began applying for summer internships. My Career Consultant, Erica Walbert, was very helpful in showing me how to highlight my best attributes on my resume. At the start of any internship search, I think you should first begin with perfecting the resume and tailoring it towards the companies you are applying to. Erica helped me to not only format a great resume, but to offer some perspective into what certain companies look for as well.
Once I was satisfied with my resume, I scheduled more appointments with Erica to work on my interviewing skills. This proved to be invaluable experience because it prompted me to start trying to anticipate what employers would be asking me. Because I had a general idea of the questions they were going to ask, I was able to think through my answers so I was not just making them up on the fly.
I credit my success of landing a summer internship to the help I received from the Career Center. It proved to be an invaluable resource for advancing my career, and I encourage undergraduate and graduate students to take full advantage of all the opportunities it offers.
