Medical Hospice Social Worker at Atlanta VistaCare Hospice

Before I graduated with my Bachelor of Social Work degree, I knew I wanted to continue my studies right away. I applied and got accepted into the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for my Master's in Social Work. The day after my graduation from UGA, I was on the road to UNC. I completed my MSW in May 2011 with concentrations in Gerontology and Healthcare. I was fortunate to get a dual internship at the Duke ALS Clinic and Movement Disorders Center, which adequately prepared me for my current position. I am now a Licensed Medical Social Worker with VistaCare Hospice in Atlanta.

While I was in North Carolina, I built up my networking connections because I wanted to move back to Atlanta. I made sure to keep in touch with my UGA professors and made contact with several social workers in Georgia. My UGA Career Consultant, Christie Sanders, provided me with great advice on my job search. I continue to take advantage of networking opportunities and even came back to UGA to share my story with students at the Careers in Social Work panel. I love my job and I am grateful for the help of the Career Center!
