Portfolios: About Me
Guide to Your “About Me” or Bio Page
Designing a compelling "About Me" section is your chance to move beyond just listing your projects to make a genuine, human connection. Here’s an easy guide to help you craft an About Me page that stands out and feels authentic.
- Include the Basics
Mention your name, what you do (or what you’re studying), and a brief description of your professional focus.
- Highlight Your Strengths and Passions
Describe your core skills and what excites you in your field. When applicable, relate your strengths to your coursework, campus involvement, internships, or research at UGA.
- Show a Little Personality
Add a detail or two about your life outside of work or studies. This could be a hobby, fun fact, or a quirky habit—anything that helps people remember you and see you as a real person.
- Make It Easy to Connect
Close by inviting visitors to take the next step. This could be checking out your work, connecting on LinkedIn, or sending you a message. Add a friendly call-to-action and make sure it’s easy to find your contact info including a phone number and email address.
- Add a Friendly Photo
A clear, approachable photo makes your profile feel more personal and builds trust. Choose a professional but relaxed headshot, or a photo that reflects your style and field. (Visit the Career Center Photobooth for your FREE headshot!)
- Keep It Fresh
Update your About Me section each semester, after new internships, study abroad programs, or significant campus involvement. Referencing recent achievements or evolving interests keeps your page relevant.
