Resumes and cover letters are application materials that can make or break your chances of being seen as a qualified candidate for a position that you may be applying for. Resumes provide a tailored overview of your most relevant experiences and skills while cover letters give you the opportunity to articulate your enthusiasm for an organization and share why you are a good fit for an opportunity. This workshop will help you start or revise these documents to create an application that efficiently showcases how your experiences and skills make you a competitive candidate for the positions that you're applying for. This program develops the following UGA Institutional Competencies: Communication and Critical Thinking.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Identify resources that you have access to through the Career Center and apply your preferred formatting choices to your resume and cover letter for an updated presentation of your experiences.
  2. Construct a bullet point to describe the details of your skills and accomplishments.
  3. Outline a cover letter by identifying each paragraph's purpose and structure.
