ONLINE Mentor Skills Webinar: Addressing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The goal of our session will highlight the importance of establishing mentoring relationship with those who are different from ourselves. We will also build diversity literacy by talking about the difference between diversity and inclusion, and identifying and avoiding the barriers to inclusive relationships.
Learning Objectives:
1. Build diversity literacy
2. Appreciate the importance of diverse mentoring relationships
3. Understand and avoid the barriers to creating an inclusive relationship
Dr. Kecia Thomas is a Professor of Industrial/Organizational Psychology and African-American Studies at UGA. She also serves as the Senior Associate Dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. She is an expert in the Psychology of Workplace Diversity. Dr. Thomas is an elected Fellow of the American Psychological Association as well as the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology and the Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnicity, Culture and Race. Dr. Thomas is a member of the National Change Team for the NSF funded, Aspire Alliance whose goal it is to build a more diverse and inclusive STEM community.
