Demystifying the Pre-Med Pathway (Arch Ready Fall 2025 Express Workshop)

As you prepare for the pre-med pathway, you will discover there are many requirements – both well-known and obscure – that you must complete during your studies and/or gap year(s) before applying to medical school programs. In this workshop, we will provide guidance on what you should expect on the pre-med pathway year-by-year, “hidden curriculum” that you may not be aware of, and UGA resources that can help you navigate this pathway. Regardless of if you’ve declared the pre-med pathway or how much you’ve completed, this workshop will provide tips to creating strategies on your journey to medicine. This program develops the following UGA Institutional Competencies: Leadership and Collaboration and Social Awareness and Responsibility.
By attending this virtual Arch Ready program, you will be able to:
• Identify 3 UGA departments and resources that will help you navigate the pre-med track.
• Anticipate hidden curriculum, such as CASPER testing requirements and standing out to admissions committees, before you start the med school application process.

This day-long event connects students with communications organizations with students interns and full-time hires in digital, print and broadcast journalism, entertainment, film, production, media sales, advertising and public relations. Internships and full-time positions will be available, but please research the companies attending to confirm their openings. All related communications majors at UGA are encouraged to attend. Be sure to check the list of employers attending the fair to do research, and be prepared to have meaningful conversations on the day of the event!
Leading up to the event, we will host an online, career-focused panel featuring event sponsors as a way to connect ahead of Career Day. We will update the event with details when they are confirmed.

Intern For A Day is a volunteer job shadowing opportunity that allows you to explore a career field and experience a typical day on the job. We can offer virtual and in-person shadowing opportunities and either a half-day or full-day shadow, depending on your availability.
Employers volunteer themselves to host each semester. Students are required to attend one of the mandatory information sessions where we will go more in-depth into expectations of the program and release which employers are participating.
By attending an information session, you are not committed to participating for the semester. You will receive the formal registration link to be matched with an employer after attending the one of the sessions.

When applying to health professions programs, pre-health students must accrue many pre-professional experiences, such as shadowing and/or clinical hours, leadership, volunteering, research, and study abroad – just to name a few! Some of the opportunities may be easier to secure than others, especially in Athens and the local community. As a pre-health student, you may be feeling overwhelmed or unsure of where to begin building credentials for professional school programs. Attend this panel discussion to gather real-life networking and job search advice from fellow pre-health UGA students.
This program develops the following UGA Institutional Competencies: Creativity & Innovation, Leadership & Collaboration, and Social Awareness & Responsibility. By attending this panel discussion, you will be able to:
• Define how diverse experiences in clinical, leadership, research, and community service professional school applications and readiness.
• Identify strategies to connect with professionals and clinical and non-clinical sites to gain pre-professional experiences.
• Assess and pursue meaningful positions that align with career interests and values.

The College of Education Career Fair offers students wanting to work in education with the opportunity to connect with representatives from K-12 schools, organizations, and graduate/professional schools from all over Georgia and the U.S.! All students interested in a career in education are encouraged to attend.
Students are expected to wear business professional attire and bring printed copies of their resume.
