Explore Lab is a small group workshop offered by the UGA Career Center to help first-and second-year students navigate the process of choosing a major. This workshop includes group discussion, reflective questions, and an overview of campus resources to help you create an action plan and move forward in your major choice process. We hope you leave Explore Lab with less anxiety about making the wrong decision and more excitement about exploring your options at UGA.

This workshop is open to first- and second-year students exploring majors at UGA. If you are an undecided third or fourth-year student, please call the Career Center at 706-542-3375 or use Handshake to make an appointment with a Career Consultant.

After attending this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain common major and career myths
  • Describe your areas of interest and how they connect to majors

You will pay a $25 no-show fee to cover the dinner expense.

Transportation Information
Transportation to and from the event will be provided. Buses will arrive at the Main Library at 2:30 pm and depart at 3:00 pm. We will return to campus around 10 pm. Space is limited and seating is on a first-come basis; therefore, we recommend signing up as soon as possible. This event is open to all UGA students and alumni.

Advocating for yourself in the workplace is incredibly important, but it can be difficult to know how to advocate and often people feel uncomfortable engaging in these conversations with new employers. Advocacy can look like a lot of different things to different people and can range from asking for help, negotiating salary, disclosing a disability, or stating your pronouns and preferred name among many other things. In this program, we will explore some of the numerous ways you can advocate for yourself and provide some strategies and resources.

By attending this program, you will be able to:

  1. Describe what self-advocacy is
  2. Explain at least 3 different ways to advocate for yourself in the workplace
  3. Examine strategies you may employ as you enter and grow in your career

Explore Lab is a small group workshop offered by the UGA Career Center to help first-and second-year students navigate the process of choosing a major. This workshop includes group discussion, reflective questions, and an overview of campus resources to help you create an action plan and move forward in your major choice process. We hope you leave Explore Lab with less anxiety about making the wrong decision and more excitement about exploring your options at UGA.

This workshop is open to first- and second-year students exploring majors at UGA. If you are an undecided third or fourth-year student, please call the Career Center at 706-542-3375 or use Handshake to make an appointment with a Career Consultant.

After attending this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain common major and career myths
  • Describe your areas of interest and how they connect to majors
  • Utilize online resources to help you navigate the exploration process
  • Create an action plan to move forward with your next steps

International students face many big challenges in the process of looking and applying for jobs in the U.S. In this 30-minute Express Workshop you will learn key job search concepts you must implement to target international-student-friendly companies in 15 minutes with an additional 15 minutes for questions. Explore Lab is a small group workshop offered by the UGA Career Center to help first-and second-year students navigate the process of choosing a major. This workshop includes group discussion, reflective questions, and an overview of campus resources to help you create an action plan and move forward in your major choice process. We hope you leave Explore Lab with less anxiety about making the wrong decision and more excitement about exploring your options at UGA.

This workshop is open to first- and second-year students exploring majors at UGA. If you are an undecided third or fourth-year student, please call the Career Center at 706-542-3375 or use Handshake to make an appointment with a Career Consultant.

After attending this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain common major and career myths
  • Describe your areas of interest and how they connect to majors
  • Utilize online resources to help you navigate the exploration process
  • Create an action plan to move forward with your next steps

Your 60-minute mock interview will feature 30 minutes of standard interview questions and 30 minutes of structured time for feedback and post-interview Q&A. Please note that these are not interviews for employment purposes. These are MOCK interviews for educational purposes only.

Personal statements are a must when you're applying for graduate school. In the multitude of candidates who apply, this document sets you apart from the rest and gives the program and school insight into who you are. If you're in need of some quick personal statement tips in between classes, this workshop is for you! This 30-minute Express Workshop will cover the top tips for personal statements in 20 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes for questions. This workshop is open to ALL majors at UGA.

All Express Workshops are capped at 75 participants. Please only register if you plan to attend and unregister if you can no longer attend to allow for students on the waitlist to register.
