Did you know that Uncle Sam is the nation's largest employer! The federal government alone employs approximately 1.8 million civilian employees. Approximately 84% of these are located outside Washington, D.C. Government jobs are not just limited to the federal level! In fact, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 8 million Americans are employed in State and Local government. This places state and local governments among the largest employers in the economy.

Because of the sheer size of government, there are an abundant number of employment opportunities. Think about it! Each government agency needs employees with a variety of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to effectively and efficiently function.
