Please note: Group interviews will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 4pm to 6pm, with final interviews on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 4pm to 6pm. We strongly encourage candidates to keep their schedules open for these interview sessions.

Program Overview:The Career Development Intern (CDI) program provides valuable paraprofessional experience to undergraduate student workers, who aid the Career Center in meeting the needs of University of Georgia students, alumni, and employers. Career Development Interns are integral members of the Career Center staff and have significant opportunities to contribute to the Career Center team. CDIs serve as peer mentors by critiquing student resumes and cover letters during walk-in hours, and assisting staff with career-related events, among other duties as assigned.

Opportunities of the CDI program include:

  • Two-semester commitment to work 10 hours each week at $7.25 per hour
  • In depth training and instruction in job search strategies, interviewing, and advanced resume and cover letter writing among other topics
  • Access to all resources of the Career Center including Career Consultants and self-assessment tools
  • Networking opportunities with employers and alumni
  • Development of peer mentorship and presentation skills
  • Opportunities to apply creative abilities to a dynamic working environment
  • Establish a mentor/mentee relationship with a Career Consultant of your choosing

Required Qualifications:

  • High level of motivation to work with students/ peers
  • Passion to serve as a peer mentor for UGA students and to assist students in career development needs
  • Self-motivated, able to complete tasks, and plan programs in a timely manner without constant supervision
  • Desire to go above and beyond to help students develop career planning and job search skills
  • Willing to step out of comfort zone
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others in individual and group settings
  • Strong desire to market and publicize Career Center events and activities to student body
  • MUST commit to intern both Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters
  • Students will be a sophomore, junior, or senior in Fall 2016

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Students with prior employment experience or leadership and student involvement experience
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Available to work 10 hours per week during the school year; hours can be between 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday (two days must be during the hours of 12pm-2pm for walk-in hours)
  • Ability to attend CDI Training (tentatively scheduled for Thursday, August 4 and Friday, August 5)
  • Flexible schedule (to accommodate Career Center events)
